I heart jefferson street

If you are craving a culinary adventure, journey to Jefferson Street for an evening of dining delight. Appropriately coined “restaurant-row”, this strip has seen an explosion of change over the last few years, much to the excitement of Lexingtonians. Here, both food fanatics and those of us who merely enjoy sampling the latest and greatest will come to love the variety served up in the flourishing Western Suburb.

Begin your itinerary with a delightful tasting at Wine + Market, Downtown Lexington’s Premiere Boutique Wine Shop, presented by the owner, Renee Brewer.  Every Friday evening from five to eight, you are invited to savor a presentation so delicious that you may fall in love with a bottle, (or two,) to take home with you and share with friends later. Also be sure to note the fresh produce section offering up patrons a bountiful array of local fruits and veggies to compliment any of the cheeses behind the case.

Next, make your way to Nick Ryan’s Saloon for a sampling of their divine cocktail menu, which debuted in March.  Once located on North Mill Street circa 1905, the current location on Jefferson Street is in tribute to the original Nick Ryan who grew up in the neighborhood where the new saloon resides. Nick Ryan’s Saloon also serves as a community philanthropist by donating a portion of their proceeds one evening every month to benefit a different charity

When your heart and taste buds fancy regional cuisine, look no further than Stella’s Kentucky Deli.  One of my family's all time favorite spots, here you will find all of their scrumptious dishes including soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts and more made fresh by hand daily with whatever produce is currently in season, ensuring you have the highest caliber of ingredients year round.

As you continue your evening of tasty treasure, you would be remiss without enjoying a late night patio experience. Head to one of my absolute favorite places to dine and unwind, Grey Goose, whose rustic ambiance perfectly compliments the gourmet cuisine, fine wine and local craft beers. My favorite selections include the broccoli bites as a starter followed by the wood-oven fired thin crust pizza heaped with fresh vegetables as the main course and an ice-burg salad on the side.

Lastly, cap off the night by toasting a fabulous evening downtown at the Blue Heron with one of their divine drinks prepared by their awesome head bartender. Whether you enjoy each exquisite eatery on separate occasions or opt to choose this hot destination spot for a new kind of progressive dinner, your experience is sure to satiate the senses and leave you wanting more.
